The Captain 120 Little Master is the 12 HP, 2WD entry in Captain’s Indian range. Its purpose on a shortlist is to answer a small-machine question: can a narrowly specified light job be completed without buying a larger tractor? It should not be selected merely because a farm has few acres; the intended implement and route still decide whether the package works.

Compact does not mean unlimited access

The manufacturer lists a water-cooled, single-cylinder 611 cc engine rated at 3000 rpm, a 6F + 2R gearbox and a published weight of 535 kg. Its 26–32 inch adjustable track is wheel spacing, not the tractor’s outside width. Measure the supplied tyres, body and attached tool before comparing the machine with a crop corridor. A track adjustment also needs the maker’s approved procedure.

For a small inter-row cultivator, establish the required working depth, hitch dimensions and the room needed to turn with the tool attached. For a powered attachment, separately obtain the PTO speed, usable PTO power and driveline requirements; 12 engine HP does not answer those questions. The public product page is not enough to approve an arbitrary mini rotavator.

Compare the job rather than the smallest price

A light machine can still lose traction or disturb wet soil. Do not read the manufacturer’s monsoon positioning as a guarantee against bogging. Compare the actual proposed job with a larger compact candidate such as the Eicher 188, recording attachment fit, route clearance and local service support. Neither brochure weight nor engine size establishes fuel used per acre.

Indian price and ordering

TractorKarvan lists ₹3,00,000–₹3,50,000 ex-showroom for this named variant, checked 19 October 2026. Treat this as an indicative India-wide portal range, with no district specified, not an on-road quotation. Ask for the chosen equipment, applicable insurance, registration, freight and accessories to be itemised in a dated local offer. Optional equipment is not automatically included in the range.

Our verdict: Captain 120 Little Master 2WD

Verdict by the Aglist editorial desk

A useful candidate for a defined light-duty package when the supplier verifies the implement and access route. Its low power ceiling makes that verification more important than a broad acreage promise.
